8. On track for a badass morning.

Slept about 7.5 hours, and have been hitting the routine hard. Doing well.

Sleep – 6.
Morning is going very well – on track.

Claire and I are learning to incorporate our two very different morning styles effectively. I had the realization today that there is no such thing as neutral sleep (I.E a 7 on the 10 scale). There is either good, healing sleep, or insufficient sleep that sets you up for a more challenging day (and not challenging in the necessarily good way).

I need to be careful with the volume of jujitsu that I'm doing to protect my wrists. I am back to using Dragon for my posts. Looking forward to a good day.

I did not have my morning routine set up for the short morning that happens with morning jujitsu. I will be fixing that this evening by creating a short morning and evening routine for days that either are busy.

- What is one small thing that I am grateful for today?
I had a really good interaction with the guy on the telephone and then asked to speak with his manager to commend him. It made both he and his manager very happy. That felt nice.

- What is one positive thing that happened during your day?
I was able to use a cold shower to re-center my thoughts. That was great.

- What is something that I'm proud of having done today
I have done a good job of being proactive with my free time, even if it is only a few minutes. I have accomplished quite a bit without feeling rushed.

- What would I like to improve on tomorrow
I would like to study more tomorrow.

Sleep – eight
progressing relatively well this morning, the realizing that I've not established structure for taking care of items on the to do list. Will be establishing a time for that today to take care of things daily.

I should make a point of doing flashcards when I'm hanging out with the dogs at the park. Ideally dog time can be some thinking time, but I do not have that luxury this semester.

- What is one small thing that I am grateful for today?
Claire and I had a very good conversation about routines that did not deteriorate and involved minimal miscommunication. That felt really awesome.

- What is one positive thing that happened during your day?
The dogs played very hard today, which removes some of the tension that comes with caring for them while trying to accomplish things. The foster is also getting better about sitting still while I'm working.

- What is something that I'm proud of having done today
I finally completed the trip planning for Disney, which is something that I tend to avoid. I'm generally not a huge fan of trip planning, so that felt good. I also managed to truck through a good portion of my to do list.

- What would I like to improve on tomorrow
I underestimated how much time each activity on my list would take, and did not have a morning routine in place to address these things. The routines have been addressed and tailored to each day, but I need to get better about making reasonable time estimates for my to do list items. Tomorrow I will make a point of providing an estimate as I add them to my today list, and will make a point of starting a timer when I start each task, and then ending the timer when I have completed that task. This benefits me two fold – firstly it allows me to see how much time things take, and secondly it keeps me from multitasking. I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

Stay dope.

6. On track and killing it.

Woke up about a half an hour early and could not get back to sleep. Total of about seven hours. I have been making some new progress with my list system and my routine app, though each day I realize that there are more things that I forgot to account for. This also means that each day I make it a little bit better, which is exciting. I'm starting to enjoy the cold showers in the morning.

- What is something that I'm proud of having done today - I broke an agreement and owned up to it even though it cost me $50. I hold myself in higher regard for having made that decision.
- What would I like to improve on tomorrow - remembering to see people as their 7 year old selves. Would like partners to reach out to me by texting me the number 7 throughout the day.

I’m excited to be back home. NOLA has been fun and I’ve got some learning in. But my mission is back in Houston and that’s where I need to be now. Will after action when I return.

10. Doing well. Morning is going well!

Last night I got 8 1/2 hours of high quality sleep! My willpower is through the roof this morning – it feels very nice. We are frozen in today, so I need to be mindful about all of the free time in the apartment. Likely, clear is here, and I've taken the time to schedule out my tasks today on the calendar at specific times.

sleep – 8. On track for a good morning.

I had 8 hours of time in bed, but was woken up twice by the dog. Total volume of sleep was still likely more than 7 1/2 hours. Morning is on track and I'm excited for the day.

Where did I go right this week?
– when I followed my routine I was exceptionally productive. I also did a solid job of reaching out to my partners when I was struggling.

How can I apply this to the coming week?
– Respecting the sanctity of the routine is of paramount importance to me I think. I'm going to make sure to carry out the routine, no exceptions.

Where did I come up short this week?
– I underestimated the impact of going on a vacation that revolved around alcohol and food. This threw everything off. My sleep also went to hell, which I believe also threw everything off. In short, I created the perfect environment for me to spiral out of control.

How will I prevent this in the coming week? (note, there must be a strategy in play "I just won't do it again" or similar answers do not count)
– I am back home, my partner is respectful of my routine, and I have the routine specifically tailored to my schedule this week.

What obstacles will I be facing next week?
- People: There will be people eating junk food at the tutoring facility where I work, as well as people who are feeling bad about falling off of their New Year's resolution, who want to drag other people down with them.

- Events: Food-based events at work

- Scheduling Conflicts: all of these have been addressed, but the biggest conflict is helping Claire prepare for her major exam, and preparing for my CLEP exams

- Deadlines: ideally I would like to be prepared for the clip exams within two weeks, and I have the jiujitsu tournament coming up.

- Personal: Making sure to keep the relationship fun while still being productive. Productivity is not worth it if you are sacrificing enjoying life.

What do I plan on doing to address the obstacles?
Events and people: speak with partners, be cognizant of the issue before it arises, pack food and use appetite suppressant's. Scheduling conflict has been dealt with by doing a lookahead with my partner. Deadlines have been partially addressed by scheduling using the calendar with time specifically dedicated to both exam study and tournament preparation. Personal will be addressed with a daily check in with my partner, which is now scheduled for noon.

When are partner phone calls this week?
Tomorrow at 1300 CST
the other is already done
